LIFEGUARD TRAINING (Ages 15 and up)

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training covers the fundamental skills required to become a lifeguard. All students must be 15 years of age by the last day of class and must pass a skills screening consisting of 300 yards continuous swim (front crawl and breaststroke) and surface dive into deep water to retrieve a 10-pound brick. CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications are included in the course.

Attendance is required at all sessions. Students must complete all course work and pass final written and practical skills tests to obtain Lifeguard Training Certificate.

Lifeguard Training (Ages 15 and Up) American Red Cross Lifeguard Training covers the fundamental skills required to become a lifeguard. All students must be 15 years of age by the last day of class. Prerequisites: 300 yards continuously (100 yards front crawl, 100 yards breast stroke using a pull, breathe, kick, and glide sequence, and 100 yards of either front crawl or breaststroke). Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retriece a 10lb object, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object, holding the object with both hands and keeping his face above the water. Fee: $195.00

WATER SAFETY

Safety Training for Swim Coaches (Fast-Track Option): This 5-hour course provides training for competitive swim coaches, officials, athletic trainers, athletes participating in aquatic activities, aquatic exercise trainers and other individuals involved in aquatic competition or exercise programs. Prerequisites: Must have completed the online written exam on the USA swimming website (bring confirmation email to class). Must be comfortable in chest-deep water. Fee: $70

November 14 (Sat) 9:00am - 2:00pm

Water Safety Instructor Course (Age 16 and up) WSI candidates are trained to teach all levels of American Red Cross swimming classes. Prerequisites: Must be able to demonstrate Level 4 swimming skills (swim 25 yards front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and 15 yards of the butterfly with proficiency; tread water for 1 minute; float on back for 1 minute) and perform basic rescue skills. Fundamentals of Instructor Training is included in the course. You must attend all classes. Fee: $225
